Our Proposals

Since obtaining consent in principle for a new supermarket development in August 2016, Ury Estate owners FM Ury Ltd appointed Morrisons as their preferred partner to deliver the store. A revised application was approved last year as some changes were required to the shape and configuration of the proposed building to accommodate Morrisons’ requirements, but the scale, access and parking arrangements remain in line with the previous consent.

As well as creating over 120 new local jobs, the store will offer Morrisons’ full range of fresh food (including the popular ‘Market Street’ with specialist butchers, bakers and fishmongers), and will provide a huge improvement for shopping choice for Stonehaven residents.

Site layout plan for proposed Stonehaven store and petrol filling station

We are proposing a six pump petrol filling station and kiosk with 2,056 sq ft gross / 1,507 sq ft net floorspace, providing affordable fuel to local customers and residents.

The proposed design and materials reflect those for the already-consented store, incorporating natural stone and timber cladding to the front elevation and green cladding elsewhere. Access arrangements for customer vehicles, servicing and pedestrians remain the same as the existing consent, as does the number of car parking spaces for the main store (301).
